We are a group of 19 friends in Toronto, who used to play rugby together. We enjoy sports and keeping fit, but we hate running!
The purpose of this was originally to run throughout COVID-19 and motivate each other with peer mentoring and progress sharing. Since hanging up the rugby boots, some of our crew have kept in shape and some…a little less so. Sitting on the couch during COVID-19 is really appealing, adding more pounds to the dad bod is not. Our goal is for all 19 friends to come out of this fitter than we went in. The end goal is for all of us to complete a 10k in September, something half the group really need to train for.
What then evolved was “why don’t we raise money for frontline workers in the process?”
That brings us to Michael Garron Hospital Foundation’s Emergency Response Fund. We have set the goal of raising $19,000 for Michael Garron Hospital to better assist frontline workers. Examples of how your support will help include:
- Transportation assistance for some of the 2,800 staff members who need it
- Meal subsidies for staff
- Equipment support for emerging challenges during COVID-19
We hope that you can donate to this much needed cause and we look forward to getting fitter in the process.
