Door to Door Program
Door to door fundraising is how our hospital got started. In 1926 community members went door-to-door fundraising to have our hospital built, brick by brick. Today, door to door fundraising is still one of the most effective ways we can reach out to donors and community members in a personal way.
Monthly donors are vital in the support of Michael Garron Hospital and our redevelopment project. Through our door to door program we will be in the community, raising awareness and finding new monthly donors to support our hospital.
- How do I know a fundraiser is legitimate?
Michael Garron Hospital Foundation (MGHF) has partnered with Global Faces Direct to support our community campaign. Each fundraiser receives training about our work at the hospital so they can speak on our behalf. All fundraisers will have:
- Branded attire
- Pitch cards and postcards with the MGHF logo, phone number, website and charitable registration number
- Do fundraisers make a commission?
MGHF fundraisers are paid through Global Faces Direct and are compensated with an hourly wage, not commissions. MGHF and Global Faces Direct adhere to Imagine Canada’s Standards Program for charitable and non-profit organizations. - Why can't I make a one-time cash donation?
For safety reasons, our canvassers are not allowed to accept or carry cash donations. If you are interested in making a donation, please do so online at mghf.ca/donate or contact the Foundation at 416-469-6003.
- How do I know my monthly donation is reaching Michael Garron Hospital Foundation?
Thank you for choosing to give to MGHF! Once you have signed up as a monthly donor you will receive email confirmation. If you made a donation with your credit card, your first donation will be processed immediately; if you have donated through direct debit, your first donation will be processed within 5 business days. As a new monthly donor, you'll receive a thank you call within 2 weeks and a special Heart of the East window decal from us within 60 days. If you do not receive this acknowledgement, please contact us at 416.469-6003.
- Is it safe to give personal and financial information to the fundraisers?
Yes! We use encrypted software to collect payment information in a secure way. Your financial data is further encrypted according to Payment Compliance Indistry (PCI) Standards before being submitted to us at the Foundation to process your gift.
- Is my privacy protected?
Yes. Michael Garron Hospital Foundation is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and adheres to legislated privacy requirements. Any personal information we collect is used for donor-related and tax-receipting purposes, or to keep you informed about our activities and other mission-related communications. We do not sell, trade or rent out any names or personal information.
- When and how will I receive my tax receipt?
An annual consolidated tax receipt will be issued in the New Year (usually February) for all gifts made in the previous calendar year. This will be sent to the mailing address that you provided.
- I've moved since I signed up for my monthly donation - how do I let you know?

- How do I change or cancel my monthly donation to MGHF?
You may change or cancel your donation at any time by contacting us at 416-469-6003. Please note that we require 10 days’ notice to ensure the cancellation or change is made.
