Heart of the East Community Festival

East Toronto rallies in support of Kick the Stigma for a second year

Thanks to the support of our community, we're one step closer to building state-of-the-art mental health facilities at Michael Garron Hospital.

On Saturday, September 21, a beautiful sunny fall day, our East Toronto neighbours came together in support of mental health in our neighbourhood. Community members and families enjoyed diverse food trucks and family friendly activities, and closed out the day dancing to the music of local bands.

Meanwhile twenty-eight teams converged on the soccer fields at Monarch Park Stadium and faced off for the chance to win a coveted plaque on the Michael Garron Hospital Cup. Just one team was left standing—presenting sponsors Toronto Honda FC. Thanks to our participants and supporters, we raised $240,000 in support of new state-of-the-art mental health facilities at Michael Garron Hospital—a key component of our hospital's $500-million redevelopment project. The Heart of the East Campaign—our $100 million fundraising effort in support of the project—will help provide more welcoming spaces at the hospital to help our community members struggling with mental health move forward with their lives.

A big thank you to our players, sponsors, volunteers and neighbours—your support is truly creating change for those in our community affected by mental health.
