Supporting the community is good for business

Good Behaviour is one of many East Toronto businesses who give back to their community by raising funds for Michael Garron Hospital.

When Eric Chow launched Good Behaviour with Michael Lam in 2021, they were squarely focused on keeping their online ice cream shop afloat. Now with three locations and an expanded menu, they’re giving back to the community that supports their success. That includes showing their love for Michael Garron Hospital. For instance, in February 2024 they donated proceeds from ice cream sales.

“Connecting people with their community is an important part of being a neighbourhood business,” says Eric. “Supporting our local hospital is a natural outgrowth of that.”

Eric was born at our hospital, as was his daughter. Visiting our Stavro Emergency Department this year – which is one of the busiest in the city – he saw first-hand why support is needed.

“My experience there showed me how many people in our community rely on Michael Garron Hospital,” he says. “That’s why it’s important to do what we can to help.”

Good Behaviour is among many local businesses that give back to our hospital. In February, nearly 20 East Toronto retailers and services held fundraisers for the heart of the east. These ranged from children’s movie nights and drop-in play days to food and beverage sales. Proceeds were donated to our hospital to support its most pressing needs and emerging priorities.

We’re grateful to all the East Toronto business owners who are giving back to their community by fundraising for Michael Garron Hospital.
